THE FOUNDER: KIMBERLY’S STORY….

 

Ms. Kimberly Eddins is a native of Georgia (Atlanta), and is a quiet force. She has been in the industry for 28+ years in many different capacities. These Include Cosmetology, Barbering, Esthetics, and Massage Therapy. She holds 7 state licenses and 2 national licenses for operator and Instructor and has taught in all of these capacities. She is passionate about Creative Education and helping creative thinkers find their voice in the industry.  She believes that conventional education often leaves creatives thinkers out of the equation and does not celebrate their true talents. Ms. Eddins spent many years as a national educator and program writer for Regis Corporate, the largest franchise company in the world, and remains in education to this day.

 

Both as founder and Instructor Kimberly has facilitated instruction for some of the top institutions both private and public, state regulated schools.  She is well received in the industry through the eyes of all she has had the privilege to educate. Her tonsorial skills along with her innovative delivery as an educator make her worthy of celebration and the many accolades she has obtained over the course of her long career.

 

It was this experience that led to the origination of this Institute. Georgia Barber Institute has designed a program for real people, with real lives. The combination of virtual, online and in person training meet the needs of todays’ student.  The school seeks to provide innovative concepts and education for real people. The school is located East on I-20. In Conyers, Georgia. The location is convenient to Covington, Lithonia, Oxford, and other surrounding areas. In addition to the positive economic impact, through continuous skills training, and job placement, the school also offers diversity, and cultural appreciation and awareness, which will contribute to the overall viability of the areas surrounding it.

 

The school seeks to change the perception at-large society may have of skilled, trade based, jobs. To destigmatize “working with your hands…”, so that these jobs will not be seen as a default decision after a failed attempt at a more acceptable career path, but more an intentional creative career. Many students choose technical school education and their creativity over debt and a four-year degree. We also strive to destigmatize this as an option for your career. This is the school for you!

GBI offers an innovative teaching style that includes You-Tube university, Instagram check-ins, Online- and in person integrated instruction, a state of the art clinic floor,Industry Professional guest instructors, and State Board theory taught by Industry professionals. The program is the only program that offers a 30 hr Business Class that teaches barber students how to set appointment to maximize their time and know how much they will make on any given day, or how to market on social media, and how to write an effective business plan and find funding for a new business.
